Transfer a secret audio message by poking someone with your finger 

Disney researchers have developed a microphone that lets a user record a voice message and then relay that message to another person simply by touching them with a finger.

The microphone converts the voice message into an inaudible signal which is transmitted to the body of the person holding the microphone as an inaudible signal. It can then be transmitted from that person's body to another person's body through touch. The recorded sound only becomes audible when touching someone else's ear. Their ear canal acts as a sort of speaker, allowing them to listen to a secret finger-transmitted message. The sound can't be heard by anyone else but the person being touched.

Samsung has provided many of the parts for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPad over the years. But this year, there were some who believed that Apple had reached an agreement with TSMC to replace Samsung as the provider of the A7 processor that drives the Apple iPhone 5s. But apparently that deal won't ttake affect until 2014. The recent tear down of the new full-feature iPhone 5s that we told you about a couple of days ago, revealed that the A7 comes from Samsung using its 28nm process.

The rivalry between the two is pretty intense, and yet Apple relies on Samsung for key parts used in the device that is its most important. While both sides are eager in a courtroom setting to appear as though they hate each other's guts, somewhere there is a Samsung rep and an Apple parts buyer who can always get together and shake hands on a deal.

BlackBerry’s Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of a special committee have approved the letter of intent to seek financial from both Merrill Lynch and BMO Capital Markets as a consortium led by Fairfax. Fairfax Financial is BlackBerry’s largest shareholder and will be taking acquiring BlackBerry. The deal is expected to be closed by November 4th. However till the date, BlackBerry is permitted to actively evaluate and potentially enter into negotiations with parties that might offer better alternatives.  If the deal with Fairfax goes through, the company will go private and each shareholder is expected to get $9 per share.

Fairfax already owns about 10% of BlackBerry stock and would acquire the remainder for $9 per share and take the company private under the terms of a letter of intent. BlackBerry stock was trading at around $8.25 when the deal was announced.

The deal would also "provide them with some financial stability so its enterprise customers would not feel compelled to replace them for fear of going out of business,"

BlackBerry was once the leader of the smartphone sector. At a time when other companies were asking consumers to struggle with clunky Web interfaces to email, BlackBerry revolutionized messaging with its handsets that combined an email client with a real keyboard.

But the company failed to evolve its handset range when Apple launched its iPhone and full-screen touchphones began attracting consumers. Its BlackBerry 10 operating system, released earlier this year after more than a year of delays, was an attempt to turn things around but many analysts saw it as coming too late.

J.S. Rajkumar, a tech-savvy laparoscopic surgeon at the Lifeline Multi Speciality Hospital in the southern city of Chennai, on Tuesday carried out two operations wearing Glass, which uses a tiny, voice-controlled, Wi-Fi-enabled computer on the face.

“As you operate you can webcast to three or four senior surgeons sitting in Chennai, Delhi or Hyderabad and we would be able guide those rural surgeons,” Mr. Rajkumar said. “It’s implications are huge,” he added.

Google Glass allows images to be projected inside a small, transparent cuboid over the right eye, meant to look like a 25-inch screen eight feet away, reducing obstruction for the wearer.

According to the surgeon who is also chairman of the Lifeline Group of Hospitals, 'the rural hospitals in India should adopt Glass as it is cost-effective and will make interactions with technology less disruptive, unlike a regular computer. All we need is connectivity'.

Mr. Rajkumar wore the glasses to perform a minimally invasive and open gastro intestinal surgery on two patients, one suffering from heartburn and acid reflux, the other from a hernia.

The surgeries were recorded through a lens on the headset and streamed live through Google Hangout, an interactive video platform, to an audience of 30 surgeons and medical students watching from a few blocks away at the hospital’s corporate office.

He said that Glass, which has yet to hit the world-wide commercial market, could work wonders in India, where 85% of all surgeries happen in villages and small towns and doctors often need expert guidance to perform complex and emergency procedures.
